When it comes to diversity in the workplace, we’ve still got a lot more to do.

You’ll get lots of organisations shouting about how brilliant their diversity and inclusivity policies are. We’re not going to do that. Not because it’s not important to us: we’re doing a huge amount of work to tackle diversity, equity and inclusion at Saltus. But we have to acknowledge that work hasn’t yet translated into meaningful change when it comes to the demographic composition of our people.

The wealth management industry remains predominantly white and predominantly male, and we see that reflected in our candidate pool every time we recruit for a new position. We encourage applications from people of all demographics and from a wide range of backgrounds, but we know we need to do more than simply provide encouragement.

We’re taking the first steps towards starting to work with a number of schools and higher education establishments, with an aim of addressing the lack of diversity in candidate pools by encouraging more young people to consider a career in wealth management. If we keep on looking in the same places and in the same way, we’ll get the same candidate pool we’ve always got. We see this as a real opportunity to challenge the sector and seek to remove some of the historic barriers to entry.

If you’re thinking of applying to work for us but are disabled, neurodiverse, or for another reason need any adjustments to the recruitment process to enable you to go ahead, then please let us know. We want to ensure we create an environment where everyone can give their best.

We’ll keep you updated on how our diversity, equity and inclusion journey progresses. Whether you are a prospective candidate, a client or someone who has just come across these pages, and you’ve got any suggestions for things we should be doing or thinking about, please let us know. We’d love to hear from you.
