When it comes to diversity in the workplace, we’ve still got a lot more to do.

We are the Saltus Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) Committee: run by and led by staff. We aim to promote DE&I initiatives at work and challenge the Saltus senior management team where we feel action needs to be taken, to ensure Saltus is a place that is welcoming and inclusive to all.

We’re really proud of the work we are doing when it comes to our internal approach to diversity and inclusivity, which continuously evolves as our company grows. However, we acknowledge the very real problem in the financial services industry as a whole when it comes to the lack of representation.

The financial services industry remains predominantly white and male. We are passionate about changing this and encouraging people to come and work at Saltus from a wide and varied demographic which represents our society. We continuously seek to improve our recruitment, hiring and onboarding processes, listening to feedback, to ensure they are accessible to all. If you’re thinking of applying to work for us but are disabled, neurodiverse, or for another reason need any adjustments to the recruitment process to enable you to go ahead, then please let us know. We want to ensure we create an environment where everyone can give their best.

How else can we show that we are looking to change the industry from within? We ask ourselves this question frequently and are actively working on this. We are currently working with two charities, Lets Talk Well and Money Ready. Money Ready helps people learn how to manage money, and we have a number of staff who volunteer their time to go and give talks about the finance industry in schools, colleges and universities. You can read more about the charities on our ‘Saltus in the community’ page. We also speak to young people about careers in financial services and investment management, and we prioritise areas of greater social deprivation when looking at where we volunteer.

Being able to measure our progress is really important to us. This year we are undertaking our first staff diversity census. This is completely voluntary but will enable us to measure progress when it comes to improving the diversity of our staff population. We continue to seek feedback from applicants, staff, and clients. As the DE&I Committee, we will work with the management team to ensure that Saltus act on this feedback; to highlight what we are doing well, and how we can improve.

Together, that is how we are aiming to make a difference. If you want to be part of our journey then please do look at our current vacancies, consider joining us as a client, or get in touch and share your feedback. All are welcome at Saltus.

Saltus team

The great news is that, as we grow, our employee base has become increasingly diverse. Everyone is welcome at Saltus, and feedback from our people tells us that we really have created a culture that supports that.

We believe everyone deserves an exceptional experience at work…
